Authorities say they have found a gun used in the shooting at a Florida community college.
Police say the gun was found in a closet of the school’s residence hall.
They also say they found a man who matched the description of the shooter.
The man is a student at Florida Atlantic University.
Police have not released his name.
He was taken into custody.
Police are searching for a man with a history of mental illness who they say shot and killed a security guard at a community college in Orlando.
Police said in a news release Tuesday that the man has a criminal history and was previously involuntarily committed.
The guard was shot in the face.
The suspect was later found dead in the campus parking lot.
Police identified the victim as 19-year-old Daniel W. Stansfield Jr., of Miami Gardens.
The school district said it is cooperating fully with the investigation.
He is a former employee at the school and was on leave after his father was shot.
The incident happened Tuesday morning in the parking lot of Florida Atlantic College.
The university has confirmed that the incident is under investigation.
The Orlando Sentinel reports that at least three people were killed and another person injured in an early morning shooting in central Florida.
The shooting happened on Interstate 495 near the Florida Turnpike, the paper reported.
The victims were identified as Johnnie Lee Miller, 50, of Jacksonville; Joseph R. R. Hagerty, 36, of Lakeland; and Johnathan Williams, 29, of Port St. Lucie.
A fourth person was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
A person who was at the scene has been arrested, the Sentinel reported.
4 p.p.m.: Authorities are searching a vacant home in Tampa for the person who fired the shots that killed a family member and wounded three others, authorities said.
Police received a call around 8:15 a.m., telling them that a man was in the yard and was shooting at other people, Tampa Police Capt. Kevin Miller told ABC News.
When the responding officer went to the home, they found four bodies inside the home.
Miller said he could not confirm whether the four bodies were connected to the shooting.
He said he did not know the identities of the victims, and that investigators are working to identify the man.
Police also found a shotgun in the home that was similar to the one used in Sunday’s attack, he said.
He also said there were two people wounded in the attack, but were not immediately able to say if they were related.
4 a.p.: The U.S. Secret Service is conducting a manhunt for a suspect who shot and wounded a family friend in a parking lot near a Florida Community College.
A manhunt has been launched for the suspect who was shot and critically wounded in a park in the early morning hours of Sunday, according to a press release from the Secret Service.
The shooter was identified as 30-year.
Charles W. Thompson of Jacksonville was shot multiple times and died at a local hospital.
Authorities have not revealed his name or the motive behind the shooting, according with the statement.
The Florida community school is located near Tampa, where the shooting happened.
4 1:55 a.d.: A man was killed and a woman injured in a shooting in Florida’s Everglades, according the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
The two were killed at an Orlando hotel when a man walked into the lobby of the Marriott Orlando International, the Orlando Sentinel reported Tuesday.
Two people were injured, including a man in critical condition.
They were identified by the department as 25-year old Charles A. Winterer and 22-yearold Tiffany L. Richey.
Investigators were still trying to determine if the shooting was gang-related.
4 :30 a.g.: A woman who was reportedly attacked and killed by her husband in Florida was in critical and stable condition, the Florida Office of the Medical Examiner said.
The woman, 43-year, was at her husband’s Florida-based home in the Orlando area when she was attacked at 2:15 p.n. in the driveway, the OMI said.
She was treated and released from the hospital and is in stable condition.
A woman and a man were shot at the couple’s house on Interstate 95.
Police responded to the scene and found the two victims, who were shot in both legs, the office said.
4-23-17: A gunman in New York City was shot dead by police after opening fire on them.
The gunman then barricaded himself in a building at the intersection of 4th Avenue and West 23rd Street in Brooklyn, New York.
Police initially responded to reports of a domestic disturbance in the building.
